Debates about the future of the Polish energy industry
The topics which the Congress concerned proved so important for the whole national economy, that the representatives of each leading company on the Polish market chose to attend.
For the 2015 Congress, the industry experts and specialists were invited to the town of Kazimierz Dolny. The event was inaugurated by a discussion about the Polish electricity and energy sector over the next 35 years. Next, the delegates spoke about the functioning of nuclear power and gas power in the context of coal excavation, the role of prosumers in contemporary energy and heat generation, as well as about renewable energy sources.
Nuclear and natural gas energy – coal’s friend or enemy?
Our Works were represented by Wojciech Kozak, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe “Puławy” S.A. Mr Kozak and the representatives of such companies as Erbud Industry, Tauron, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A., Nuclear Power Plant Sales GE Hitachi and Alstom Power participated in Panel 3: “Nuclear and natural gas energy – coal’s friend or enemy?”
The first part of the discussion series concerned the projects which are being planned or implemented, directly linked to the construction or modernization of conventional installations. The next topic was the Polish nuclear energy program, and the possible ensuing threat to the coal-based energy policy. The participants proposed various answers to the question about the development potential of Polish gas energy generation and its position in current market conditions, which are difficult.
