Road investment projects in Lubelskie voivodeship

| Prospects & Investment |

Lublin County is planning to spend 43 million PLN on investment in 2015. The majority of projects concern road modernization. We need to remember about the construction of the Western bypass of Lublin, the second section of Puławy bypass, and 100-kilometer section of S17 road from Kurów towards Warsaw. Those are the primary plans for 2015.

Bypass road under construction

The initial preparation work in the construction of the Western Lublin bypass has begun, as the road is scheduled to be completed in November or December 2016. This project takes priority this year. The spokesperson of the Lublin Office of GDDKiA (General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways) has said that at present trees are being removed, a place for the storage of materials is being prepared, and technical roads are being marked. The construction will kick off in spring. The new road will be 10 kilometers long. It will lead from Lublin Sławinek junction at the intersection of S12, S17 and S19 roads to a connection with the existing DK19 in Konopnica. The bypass shall include two junctions: Lublin Szerokie and Lublin Węglin.

Congested Lublin

The Western bypass of Lublin is really important, as it will drive transit traffic away from the clogged Kraśnicka street. In the rush hour, crossing the city may now take up to one hour. The bypass is to make this problem a thing of the past. Drivers coming from Rzeszów direction will reach Lublin Sławinek junction in 5 minutes. There, they may turn in the direction of Warsaw or drive on towards Białystok, turning at the next junction, Lublin Rudnik, in another 5 minutes’ time.

S17 and S19

The tenders for the construction of S17 are still under way. The construction of the 100-kilometer section between Kurów Zachód junction and Lubelska junction outside Warsaw is expected to be completed in 2019. S19 is an equally important investment. This 77-kilometer section leads from Konopnica junction to Łążek Ordynacki junction past Janów Lubelski. The road is to open in 2020. At the same time, the construction of S19 section in Podkarpackie voivodeship is being prepared. In the future, S19 is meant to serve as the main route making it possible to travel North-West in Eastern Poland.
