“PUŁAWY” teaches kids about protecting the environment

| CSR |

The 10th edition of “A Tree for a Bottle” competition is about to come to an end. The event has been organized annually since 2003 and forms a part of Responsible Care Program. The key target of the project is increasing environmental awareness among children, who receive tree seedlings in return for plastic bottles they have collected.

2327 “little ecologists”

This year’s “A Tree for a Bottle” attracted 2,327 participants from 20 schools and kindergartens from the Puławy area. The collection of PET bottles is finished, so now it is time for the most enjoyable part of the procedure – handing over the seedlings (401 this year) to the participants. On May 12th, awards will also be given to best collectors at the Closing Ceremony held in Puławy Science and Technology Park.

With the support of Our Works

Grupa Azoty “PUŁAWY” has been the local coordinator of “A Tree for a Bottle” since 2005. We have since managed to increase the reach of the project, getting the schools and kindergartens from outside of Puławy to participate (at first only Puławy schools took part). Now schools from rural areas also join in the program. Apart from the local Municipal Services Company, County Office in Puławy has also become a partner.

All in all, over 23,000 pupils have participated in all editions of the competition in Puławy. They have collected 2,900,000 plastic bottles and planted over 2,000 trees. All over Poland, nearly 19 million PET bottles have been collected and over 24,000 trees planted!
