Opening of a new fertilizer investment!
A new installation for manufacturing solid fertilizers was officially started up on October 15th, 2015, as the final stage of a bigger project – the New Fertilizer Complex. The total value of the venture exceeded 450 million PLN.
Plans have become reality
When Paweł Jarczewski, who is currently the Chairman of the Board of Grupa Azoty, became the Chairman of the Board of Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY, he called for the construction of the New Fertilizer Complex. The company took up the challenge and the first part of the investment was ready in 2013.
An installation for exhaust fumes desulfurization using wet scrubbing was opened, the first such a modern facility in Europe and the third one in the world. At the same time, two other investments in New Fertilizer Complex were launched: an installation for the manufacturing of liquid fertilizers with sulfur called PULASKA (manufacturing capacity of 190,000 tonnes/year) and RSMS (UANS), as well as a logistic center for fertilizers in granules. The cost of the first stage of the investment reached 360 million PLN.
We are currently starting up an installation for the manufacturing of solid fertilizers called PULGRAN and PULGRAN S. The final part of the New Fertilizer Complex cost over 200 million PLN. The total expenditure of Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY on erecting New Fertilizer Complex reached almost 460 million PLN.
Demand for fertilizers with sulfur is rising
The vast majority of European countries face strict limitations of sulfur emissions to the atmosphere, which has led to sulfur deficiency in arable soil. The occurrence of sulfur deficiency and the positive reaction of crops to fertilization with this element were first documented in Ireland and Scotland, and next in England, Germany, Sweden and Denmark.
Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY launched the first international research project focusing on using new fertilizers with added sulfur on the territory of Poland, Czech Republic and Germany in the spring of 2008. The data collected made it possible to estimate the potential of the new generation of fertilizers before initiating their production and distribution. Those products were based on urea and urea and ammonium nitrate solution (RSM/UAN).
A new investment and benefits for the company
We have been observing growing demand for fertilizers. Farmers are looking for new kinds of fertilizers, suited to the specificity of crops as well as the local soil type and weather conditions. Therefore, we create customized products and adjust our portfolio to the needs of the end user.
