Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY supports Low Carbon Agriculture
Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY is going to participate in a project whose aim is to support Low Carbon Agriculture. The National Center of Research and Development has issued a positive opinion about the content matter of the project, and has recommended the project for state co-funding.
Low Carbon Agriculture
The objective of Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY is to improve the efficiency of the use of resources thanks to implementing innovative, low carbon agricultural practice and promoting sustainable application of mineral fertilizers on Polish farms. The project is likely to provide an excellent opportunity to conduct research in this field. Moreover, it will enable the Company to prepare a list of certificates for the use of fertilizers in low carbon agricultural practice.
The results of the research are going to be useful in programming agricultural policy in Poland with regard to counteracting climate change. Furthermore, the data is going to be used for perfecting the methods of calculating emissions generated by agricultural activity. The figures are stored in the National System of Emissions Inventory and Estimation.
Low Carbon Agriculture is a method which aims at minimizing the impact of fertilization on the volume of greenhouse gases emissions to the atmosphere. The objective is to use mineral fertilizers and agricultural practice, bearing in mind their impact on the natural environment.
The project is implemented by a special purpose consortium that includes the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute, the Institute of Agrophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as the Institute of Environmental Protection – State Research Institute.
