A double success for Grupa Azoty at Presidential Economy Awards
During the Monday ceremony of presenting Economy Awards of the Polish President, Grupa Azoty gained two reasons to feel proud. “PUŁAWY” received the first prize in Green Economy category, while Grupa Azoty S.A. was shortlisted in Presence on Global Markets category.
A prestigious award
The Polish President Bronisław Komorowski presented the statuettes to competition laureates at the Final Gala of the 12th Edition of Economy Awards, which was held on June 2nd, 2014 in Poznań International Fair facilities. 115 enterprises were nominated by the Competition Jury in the first stage, and next 15 out of those companies were shortlisted in five categories. At the Final Gala, 5 finalists were named. The Chairman of the Board of “PUŁAWY” Marian Rybak represented Our Works, while the Chairman of the Board of Grupa Azoty Paweł Jarczewski collected the distinction for the Group.
Grupa Azoty Chairman made it clear that this award gave him more reasons to be proud than any other. In his opinion, at the time of “prestige devaluation”, resulting from increasing multiplication of certificates and prizes, this award, the one connected with the most important person in the country, is still held in high esteem by businesspeople and the Polish society.
Paweł Jarczewski believes that statuettes for “PUŁAWY” and Grupa Azoty prove that the Polish President as well as the Competition Jury approve of the sustainable development strategy adopted and implemented across the corporation.
The Green Economy award went to “PUŁAWY” thanks to the fact that the environmentally-friendly investments in Our Works are conducted on a considerable scale, and implemented consistently and systematically. This approach forms a part of a broader plan adopted by the Company. “Responsible Care” is a framework management system, aiming at the elimination of sulphur emissions to the atmosphere in the manufacturing process of mineral fertilizers. On “PUŁAWY’s” initiative, we also established “Puławy” Competences Center, which is working on a project to improve the efficiency of the management of nitrogen in mineral fertilizers.
The international activity of Grupa Azoty S.A. led to a nomination in Presence on Global Markets category. The Group is intent on continuing the tradition of a factory founded 87 years ago by the then President of Poland, Ignacy Mościcki.
