Another contract of Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY and Unibaltic Sp. z o.o.
Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY signed another 3-year contract concerning sea shipping of RSM cargo by Unibaltic Sp. z o.o. on March 31st, 2015. The agreement constitutes a continuation of the deals which have been signed over the past years.
An important partner
Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY attaches particular importance to maritime transportation. Seeing that the company expands abroad, this kind of shipments constitutes a growing part of Company activity. Chemicals and fertilizers are goods which are sent in massive quantity to clients in various, often remote, parts of the world. Sea shipping is an excellent tool in the communication with trade partners all over the world. It is also a couple of times cheaper than road, intermodal and railway transportation. Considerable volume of cargo can be transported in one go, reducing cost per ton. The shape of the global chemical market necessitates transportation solutions of international scope, which leads to the increase of the importance of sea links.
Thanks to its own fleet of chemical tankers and a bulk carrier (ships with dead-weight tonnage of 3,000 – 8,000 tonnes) and a stable market position, Unibaltic Sp. z o.o. suits the requirements of Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY well. An installation for the manufacturing of RSM (urea-ammonium nitrate solution) in Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY has the annual output capacity of 1.2 million tonnes. Shipments of RSM will be directed to the United Kingdom, France and Germany.
Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY owns a stake in two naval companies: Navitrans Sp. z o.o. (26,45%) and Bałtycka Baza Masowa Sp. z o.o. (50%). Navitrans was established in 1992 and functions in Gdynia. It provides sea and land transportation services, both importation and exportation. Bałtycka Baza Masowa (Baltic Bulk Terminal), also located in Gdynia, was set up in 1997 by Port Gdynia Holding S.A. and Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY in order to service the export of Polish chemical products, with particular regard to chemical fertilizers. The company owns two cargo handling and storage terminals, one for the servicing liquid cargo in bulk and the other for handling solid loose cargo in bulk.
