On February 4th, 2015 the Board of our Company met the bronze medalists of the Handball World Champions in Qatar. Two members of the national team who had participated in the Championship also play in Azoty Puławy Sports Club.

Azoty players at the World Championship

At this year’s World Cup, Poland was represented by a team of players, two of whom – Piotr Masłowski and Przemysław Krajewski – belong to the team from Puławy. Also, five handball players of Azoty Puławy Sports Club traveled to Qatar to represent their home countries. They included Kosta Savić and Nikola Prce from Bosnia, Wadim Bogdanow from Russia, Jan Sobol from the Czech Republic and Aliaksandr Tsitou from Belarus, as well as Michał Szyba, who used to play in Grupa Azoty team. All in all, our club came second in Poland in the ranking of clubs with the most players participating in Qatar Championship.

All seven current Azoty players who had been in Quatar, the coaches and the Chairman of Azoty Club Jerzy Witaszek, visited our Works. The Chairman of the Board Marian Rybak and the Vice Chairman Zenon Pokojski congratulated the bronze medalists on behalf of Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY.

Fighting for the medals

Przemysław Krajewski from Azoty Puławy Sports Club said that “despite being defeated by the Germans at the beginning, the team did not lose spirit and improved their style match by match”.
He also reminisced: “Before the tournament, me, Piotrek and Michał had this conversation that it would be cool to come back with medals. Dreams do come true, you see. We are very happy to have made it and have been able to bring this medal to Puławy”,

Piotr Masłowski mused: “Each match was charged with emotions till the last second. Despite injuries, the team showed spirit and proved that it is possible to achieve much if this is what you really want. I really admire the whole team for being able to recover after some difficult moments and play for victory in every match”.

Handball players are the pride of Puławy

“We decided to establish Azoty Puławy as an independent club 10 years ago. From today’s perspective, we express satisfaction and happiness at having 7 representatives from 5 counties in our team. Gentlemen, respect!” – said Zenon Pokojski, the Vice Chairman of Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY.

He continued: “We may admire our players’ determination, passion and the will to win. Teams who fight with such spirit are hard to find. I would like to stress our respect for you and say how proud we are to know that our players contributed to the team winning this bronze medal”.
